Boston marathon bombing suspect tracked down using thermal imaging

The second suspect of the Boston Marathon bombing, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured in a thermal imaging camera that was mounted on a police helicopter.

The infrared camera picked up the suspect’s heat signature which provided the police with key identification clues to confirm that he was hiding in a boat in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Police officers at the scene also used thermal imaging cameras which assisted them to see through the darkness as they monitored movements outside and around the boat.
