Hypersonic Aerodynamic Designs enhanced with Flir Thermal Imaging Technology

The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom has combined their hypersonic wind tunnel with a thermal imaging camera to test components and their capability to withstand airflows at very high velocities. This test was intended for the purpose of space exploration and aircraft technologies.

A FLIR thermal imaging camera was used to map the hot spots that emanates from the surface of the components. This is meant to look out for areas that will need enhancement and thus make recommendations to the aircraft designers.
