Scotland’s tallest chimney demolished

With two explosions, Scotland’s tallest free-standing structure has been brought down by demolishing experts. The structure is a 236m-tall chimney situated at the former Inverkip Power Station.

However before the blast could be started, an inspection of the area was conducted with a police helicopter that used thermal imaging equipment to make sure there was no one in the vicinity.

There were 70 police officers present with additional 40 security staff based around the boundary to make sure of safety.
