What is a multimeter?

A multimeter is a device that is used to measure the AC or DC voltage, resistance and current in any electronics and electrical equipment. A multimeter combines a voltmeter, an ammeter and an ohmmeter in its functions. This device is used by electricians as well as non-electricians to diagnose electrical malfunctions on motors, switches, batteries, power sources and electrical components. This device also helps to narrow down the causes of these malfunctions.
